Fruit salad EXOTIC FRUIT SALAD

This salad may seem "exotic" for those of us living close to the Arctic Circle, where mangoes, papayas, passion fruits, and the like do not grow :-)

1 ripe pineapple
1 - 2 oranges
1 apple
1 banana
1 ripe mango
1 ripe papaya
about 15 - 20 ground cherries
1 ripe passion fruit

Cut off the zest and the white pith of the oranges with a knife, "fillet" out the pulp segments from between the skins (see the pictures below) and cut into smaller pieces. Reserve the juice and pour in the salad bowl.

Peel the pineapple, apple and banana and cut into chunks. Split the mango and papaya in half and cut their pulp into chunks. Place all the fruit in the salad bowl.

Halve the passion fruit and scrape the seeds in the salad bowl. Remove the papery skins of the ground cherries, wash the berries and add them whole into the salad.

Gently mix the salad and sweeten with a little maple syrup, if you like. Serve immediately. You may also serve vanilla-flavoured whipped cream or ice cream with the salad.
